the bogus band Few people remember (or even want to) that Defenestration actually gigged around for about six months after Todd Walker left the band. The group was a mere shadow of it's former self. Most of the music, perhaps as much as 2/3, left with Walker and what remained were the dregs of a once rich brew.

After a few shows in the area, where old fans turned out more out of curiosity than anything else, the band's fanbase shrank to next-to-nothing status. Audience members were dismayed and left in bewilderment. Adding to the confusion was the fact that Walker owned the rights to the name and in a legal move, threatened to sue the group over copyright infringement. It was more a maneuver to keep the band's name and reputation from being "dragged through the mud" than to actually collect damages. The group turned to touring outside the state, finally ending up in Oregon where the members resorted to skimming algae from settling ponds to make ends meet. Finally, mercifully the group disbanded.

It was like a bad joke or some black comedy - a Twilight Zone episode for an eighties rock band. Some found it amusing, some thought it just deserts but all would agree that no one foresaw this kind of ending for such a remarkable band. The only positive outcome from the Defenestration implosion is that all the good memories are still intact and that we have the rueful consolation of knowing that we will never have to hear their music being used in car commercials.
